DECADENCE

A mobile-first interactive novel you read in your browser.
Text-driven. Minimal. The story watches how you move through it — and quietly adapts.

Not a videogame.
Not a classic “choose-your-own-adventure”.
You read. You hesitate. You commit. Sometimes you choose. Sometimes the system does.

The system does not judge you. It simply remembers.

No install required. Works best on mobile.

What to expect

  • Short chapters built around tension, observation, and consequence.
  • Subtle adaptation based on your decisions and reading behavior (no scores, no “good vs bad”).
  • A coherent ending shaped by the way you moved through the text — sometimes uncomfortable, always intentional.

Project status

In development. The demo currently includes Chapter 0, Chapter 1, and the beginning of Chapter 2.

Feedback we’re actively applying

  • Clearer visual separation for choices (easier to scan and recognize as interactive).
  • Mobile mis-tap protection to avoid accidental selections while scrolling.
  • Clear demarcation after each decision so it’s obvious where new text begins.
  • Stronger early scenario hook — bringing external tension earlier in the experience.

How it looks

  • Clean, book-like layout (light & dark mode).
  • Minimal interface — no HUD, no visible stats, no game UI.
  • Focused on text, rhythm, and atmosphere.

The emphasis is always on reading — not on mechanics.

About the format

Decadence is built with iepub (Interactive Electronic Publication) — a format we’re developing to separate narrative structure from execution logic, and to support declarative memory and consequence.

The reader may not see the system directly — but lives its effects.

AI note

The story text is written by me and is not generated dynamically. I use AI tools as support (editing, structural consistency, and image generation - for the moment -), but all narrative content is pre-written by a human.
